            Artist Interview
Tell us a little about yourself?
I am from England and when I’m not making art I work as a chef.
How and when did you start getting into Pokemon/vaporwave art?
I’ve been making Pokemon based artwork since early 2018. Before this I mainly made surreal landscape art in the form of collage art by cutting up vintage Nat Geo magazines for several years. At some point in 2017 I began incorporating my love of the vaporwave aesthetic into this art, adding digital effects to my traditional practice.
            What inspires you?
Escapism. All of my art is about immersing myself in fictional worlds. Even as a small child I was making my own Pokemon cards and stories. I’d draw made up Pokemon maps, make pretend wanted posters for Star Wars characters, craft Lord of the Rings weapons like bows and arrows with elvish writing on them, make Harry Potter wands and pretend shopping lists for Diagon Alley and homework for Hogwarts. It was all about expanding the lore of these places I loved, blurring the boundaries between these imaginary worlds and our reality.
This caused problems when I was studying Fine Art at university, I despise conceptual art and most of the contemporary theory based art gallery world. I like simple beauty and craftsmanship. My tutors at art school were always pushing me to make political art and to try address social issues with it, which just isn’t something I ever felt comfortable doing. It was dragging the worst parts of our reality into that one sacred peaceful place I had, art.
A genuine quote from my art tutor “It’s just too nice. What do you hate? Try making art about that.” I couldn’t wait to leave, get my degree and go make the art that genuinely expresses myself. Which is what I’m doing now and surprisingly lots of other people love seeing what I make too which inspires me all the more.
What other genres of art do you like?
Aside from my beloved 90s inspirations like vaporwave, pixel art and the whole aesthetic movement I love 80s styles like outrun and synthwave. Just from a purely visual stand point I really love North Korean and Soviet artwork. There’s a bold simplicity to it that I admire and even the more traditional Korean art full of floral patterns and pastel colours.
Traditional Japanese wood block prints are sublime, as well as old Chinese ink drawings. Gothic cathedral architecture are some of the most awe inspiring structures on the planet to me. I love the photomontages of Superstudio too, an Italian architecture movement from the 60s. Anything from the retro-futurism genre excites me.
            What's your process?
It’s so wide and varied because of the number of mediums I jump between and often too chaotic, undisciplined and chance based to give a simple coherent breakdown of. I often sit down with zero plan or idea of what I’m going to make. This keeps it exciting for me.
How did you learn to do graphic design?
I studied graphic design at college for 2 years, then Fine Art at university for 3 years but honestly I learned very little in terms of technique or form. It was 95% theory. I taught myself Photoshop on an outdated French version I couldn’t understand, it was a lot of trial and error and just playing with every button and setting I could find. I learned a lot by just messing around making memes.
            What artists do you follow?
Here’s a few from my Instagram I particularly enjoy:
            • Khaled @kldpxl makes some of the best pixel art I’ve ever seen. There’s many great pixel artists I could list but he is definitely my favourite.
            • David Jien @david_jien has created a fantastical world full of characters, places and stories that are drawn and sculptured in just the most detailed, exquisite, colourful imaginative style. His art looks like pencil drawn gameboy tapestries from out of space. Fully recommend following his work.
            • @8pxl_  Again another sublime pixel artist, she particularly inspires me with her colour choices.
            • Oliver Hamlin @oliver_hamlin I regularly browse his art, it’s full of quaint, gorgeous, playful and creative watercolour paintings of Pokemon.
            • Jesse Treece @jessetreececollage is someone I’ve followed for the longest of time, learned a lot from him. Master of composition.
Do you have any other hobbies you love?
Football or soccer as some may call it. I don’t really follow it anymore but I love playing it. I’m obsessed with nutrition and food, meme culture and Youtube. I obviously love anything and everything Pokemon, the cards, the anime, the games etc. I play too much Pokemon Go.
If you could catch and have one Pokemon as a pet, which would it be and why?
100% ABRA. We could communicate telepathically. It sleeps 18 hours per day. It’s kind of like having a cat that floats and can teleport me and itself places. Maximum laziness and hates being around people, I respect it.
If you could live in any year, what year would you choose and why?
2077 so Keanu Reeves could wake me up to go burn a city.

            Incredible design

I’m very happy with the design, it’s exactly as pictured. However I am extremely disappointed in the sizing and material. More so the sizing. If you’re plus size, you’ll be familiar with the typical “adding length but not width” as you go up in size. I ordered 2 sizes up and it fits me horribly, I had to go back and check the sizing again and it is just all sorts of off. The material has been a common reoccurrence on social media and reviews and while it doesn’t necessarily make me NOT want to purchase again, it would be nice to have the option for something thicker for future hoodies. I was just very disappointed in the sizing and for that I probably can’t buy hoodies again, potentially blankets but that’s it lmao. I would just suggest to the team to look more into accurate plus sizing.

My new favorite hoodie! Awesome print, nice pockets, and even nicer material. Warm enough to wear without extra layers. Even got compliments from random people the first time I wore it 😅

            This sweater is AMAZING

It’s better than I thought. The fabric is thicker than expected and the print is great quality. The inside is also soft and it’s actually fairly warm! I will definitely be buying from you guys again.

            Hoodie sweatshirt ordered

I didn’t get my sweatshirt in the time that it was promised, but customer service was very nice and responsive. My son received the product later than I had hoped, but he’s very happy with it.

The coolest piece of clothing I own

Of all the things I ordered, this was what I anticipated the most and I am very happy to say that it looks incredible in person. The print like all the things I ordered feels high quality and unlikely to fade, and the hoodie fits a tad loose since Im very skinny (size small) but definitely comfortable and thin enough to wear in southern winter. The design itself is gorgeous and looks extremely cool, stands out quite a bit. A couple things to note are that the background is a bit more blue than it seems on the website, but the rest of the colors seem accurate. Also, the placement of certain details most likely is random and varies between hoodies. For instance I got a bubble in front of the Japanese Pokemon logo and a small Gengar in between the Japanese text and Gameboy logo on the sleeve, which does obstruct the star but looks kinda cool. I got another in front of one of the elements on the other sleeve, which was a tad disappointing but overall the hoodie looks incredible.

My husband saw this hoodie and he just had to have it! It looks great, it fits him well, and it has become his new favorite hoodie!

I got this hoodie as a Christmas present and liked it so much I had to buy more clothes for myself :) the print quality is AMAZING, matches the picture almost exactly (I got an extra small Gengar on the back of the hood). The hoodie itself is pretty thin but it's very soft on the inside and because it's polyester it's very comfortable and warm. It fits nicely and is definitely worth the buy!

I love this hoodie more than life itself

                      Love it!

Overall, I love this hoodie! It looks rad as hell and is incredibly comfy! My only gripe is that these all-over print ones seem to fit a little small. I ordered what would normally be a baggy size on me and it's kind of tight. I don't mind it since it's not restricting but it's more form fitting than I would like. If you love the print, I still recommend getting it, just making sure to go up a size or 2.

                                Worth the wait

Tyranitar hoodie came in and my husband loves it. It takes a couple of weeks for production so I would order well in advance, and go a size up for a very built man, but he loves the design, the softness, the breathability and the quality.

                                Long wait but good product

I ordered this hoodie along with a couple others for my boyfriend on Black Friday. Looking back, that may have been a bad idea as I'm sure the site may have been overwhelmed with all of the Black Friday orders and online Christmas shopping. Because of that, it took a while for them to process the order but I don't blame them for it at all. I understood why it took a while and I even shot them an email asking where my order is along the process. Their customer service rep responded very courteously and assured me that they were working on making the hoodies. I did eventually get a shipping notice (USPS- I knew that this will be another long wait due to the recent disruptions to the service, along with the covid situation and Xmas shopping). All that being said, it took about 1.5 months for my order to arrive in Ireland. My boyfriend loved all of his hoodies so no complaints there! Tip: when ordering, try not to order at such a busy time

                                Awesome hoodie

The hoodie fits great, the pockets on the side were a welcome surprise, and it’s just thin enough to wear around without getting too hot in it.

                                                  Sad to say I’m disappointed.

I’ve been fiending after this hoodie for literally over a year and I finally bit the bullet to spend the money. For how much they cost, the quality is sub par. The cotton that is used to make the hoodie itself is a thinner knit that attracts lint like crazy. Moreover, the decal itself is much fainter than the preview image implies and it’s wearing away just after one wash. I wouldn’t have been mad if I had paid $35 for this hoodie but it lists for $70USD which is outrageous. I was interested in other hoodies but sadly I’d rather spend the same amount on a StayCold hoodie, which is MUCH higher quality both fabric and decal-wise.

                                                  Boyfriend Gift

It came a lot earlier then expected, still after Christmas, but that didn't matter. My boyfriend loved it! The trio of ghosts is his favorite. Very soft but definitely had to wash it. Smelled kind of like vinegar, other then that the design was perfect.

                                                  Item was too small.

I purchased two items both xl. This sweatshirt ran much smaller that the other.

There truly isn’t another product out there that’s similar to this in quality and style. Keep up the hard work you guys do!

Sweatshirt sizes were true and the quality of both the prints and the material printed on are exceptionally nice.

Only problem I had was their shipping information was unclear. I ordered my product but was not given a tracking number ect. So I just had to wait until it showed up. I think the shipping information could use some improvements but I would still buy again

The print is nice and good color quality. I expected this sweater to be thicker material. The person I got this for would have to wear a sweater under this sweater to keep him warm because the sweater is so thin. The color in the picture looks like a deeper red, but when I got the package, it was red orange more orange looking. The red in the picture resembles the coat & bike that belonged to Kaneda, not Tetsuo. I was a little worried when my emails didn’t get answered after several days after processing times, and not receiving a tracking number, but I appreciate you keeping your word and getting it to me before Christmas thank you.

Only docking one star because it's bigger than I thought, but if you're a fan of roomy hoodies then this would be perfect for you. Otherwise, order a size down!

2077 so Keanu Reeves could wake me up to go burn a city.

I think I've learned the kangaroo pocket hoodies have sizing that are closer to what I actually expect. I bought this in a 2XL (men's XL in other brands is usually perfect for me) and it's the exact level of baggy that I wanted. This hoodie is so soft and cozy and this particular one has become my favorite.

Didn’t want help me at all, so sad.

Very cozy to wear. Would suggest ordering a size up from what you think you need.

I ordered the MySpace Tom long sleeve earlier in the year and LOVED IT. So I decided to order the Blue Eyes White Dragon, the Nintendo 64, and the Pokémon Slot Machine hoodies. I’m a social media influencer and I always get compliments on my new hoodies when I wear them in my videos! Even in public, it’s an immediate conversation starter. The materials used to make the hoodie are comfy and I can tell it’s not cheap. Definitely a low fade design quality. These are ment to last. They’re all 3 very flashy and I love it. It was hard for me to pick just 3 at the time because they all go perfect with my style. I’d wear the whole store no questions asked. 10/10 all things considered. Shipping time, pricing and quality. Without a doubt my new favorite store.

Bulbz is my favorite, so I had to get it. I received it sooner than expected. I didn't want it tight so I bought an xl. I usually wear a large in unisex or men's.

We could communicate telepathically. It sleeps 18 hours per day. It’s kind of like having a cat that floats and can teleport me and itself places. Maximum laziness and hates being around people, I respect it.

(By the way, the hoodies are super fly. One is a Squirttle hoodie the other was the Dodo Airlines one.) Someone replied to my e-mail about my size mix-up right away. The correspondent was helpful, kind, and seemed genuinely grateful for my order. They offered me free shipping also. These designs though are stunning and unique. The material is silky smooth, cool to the touch, and of good quality.

I, like many of you reading, had been re-visiting the website for several months before that trying to decide if these clothes would be worth the money and time spent waiting.

                                                                                                                                                                                  They are.

The item came quickly across the country and made it in time for his birthday on the 5th of October.
He was absolutely floored by the gift. He kept asking where I got it from and gushing over it. It really made my day seeing how much he liked the hoodie with winter approaching.
This particular hoodie is thinner than your average cotton hoodies, but is, nonetheless, exceptionally made, with high quality printing onto the very comfortable material itself. I was jealous I didn't buy myself one, honestly.
